THE VIBE BEHIND CRYSTALS

A Smoky Quartz Crystal casting a shadow from a light source.

I'm all about exploring the power of the mind and the various tools we can use to tap into it. One of the most fascinating tools I've come across on my journey is crystals. These beautiful, natural stones have been used for centuries for their healing and manifesting properties, but what's the science behind them? How do they actually work?

First of all, it's important to understand that crystals are not just pretty rocks. They are natural formations with unique molecular structures that give them their energetic properties. Each crystal has a different vibration and can be used for different purposes. So how do these vibrations actually work? Well, everything in the universe vibrates at a certain frequency, including our bodies and the objects around us. When we come into contact with a crystal, its vibration can interact with our own vibration, creating a resonance. This resonance can help to balance and harmonize our energy, promoting healing and well-being.

But it's not just about vibrations. Crystals also have physical properties that can affect us on a cellular level. For example, some crystals contain minerals that are important for our health, such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium. When we come into contact with these minerals, they can be absorbed into our bodies, helping to support our overall health and wellness.

Another important factor to consider is the placebo effect. The placebo effect is a well-known phenomenon in which our belief in a treatment or intervention can actually lead to real physiological changes in our bodies. When we believe that a crystal is helping us, our minds can create the conditions for that to become a reality. But even beyond the placebo effect, there is some scientific evidence to suggest that crystals can have real physiological effects. For example, a study published in the Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that wearing a magnetic bracelet (which contains crystals) can help to reduce pain and improve physical function in people with osteoarthritis.

While the science behind using crystals is still somewhat mysterious and not fully understood, there is evidence to suggest that they can have real physiological effects. Whether it's through vibrations, minerals, the placebo effect, or some other mechanism, there is something about crystals that can help to promote healing and well-being. Each crystal has a different vibration and can be used for different purposes. For example, clear quartz is often used for clarity and focus, while amethyst is associated with calm and relaxation.

So how do you use crystals? There are many ways, but here are a few simple methods for beginners:

  1. Wear them as jewelry. One of the easiest ways to benefit from crystals is to wear them as jewelry. You can find crystal pendants, bracelets, and earrings in many stores and online shops. Choose a crystal that resonates with you and wear it close to your skin (just make sure the crystal you choose is safe for skin contact)..

  2. Carry them in your bra, pocket or purse. Another simple way to use crystals is to carry them with you throughout the day. Choose a small tumbled stone and keep it with you. You can also place them on your desk, bedside table or in your car.

  3. Meditate with them. Crystals can be a powerful tool for meditation. Choose a crystal that resonates with your intention and hold it in your hand while you meditate or breathe. You can also place it on your third eye or heart chakra.

  4. Use them in your home. Crystals can also be used to enhance the energy in your home. Place them in different rooms to promote different energies. For example, amethyst is often used in bedrooms for its calming energy, while citrine is associated with abundance and can be placed in the prosperity corner of your home.

Remember, when working with crystals, it's important to cleanse and charge them regularly. You can do this by placing them in the sun or moonlight, smudging them with (ethically -sourced) sage or Palo Santo, or by burying them in the earth for a few hours.

Crystals can be a powerful tool for anyone on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Whether you're looking to enhance your meditation practice, manifest your goals, or simply bring more positivity into your life, crystals can be a helpful addition to your toolkit. So go ahead, explore the world of crystals, no matter how weird you look!
